What We Believe

...

VCBCC is an evangelical church anchored on Jesus Christ, our only Lord and Savior, as its Cornerstone. As such its pastor and members have cast away all claims to self-righteousness but solely depend on the grace of God through the redemptive work of Christ in reconciling sinners back to Himself. We therefore seek to live lives governed by His Word so that as we reach out communities for Christ, His light shines through our lives, making us beacons attracting and guiding them towards our Savior. To ensure unity and order in our corporate lives, we bind ourselves to the four important documents posted in our website:

   1. Our Statement of Faith
   2. The Church Covenant
   3. Our Constitution and By-Laws
   4. Our Vision and Mission Statement

Statement of Faith

  1. In the existence of one God, eternally existing in distinct but co-equal Three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut.6:4; Mat.28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14)
  2. In the 66 books of the Old and New Testament as verbally and fully inspired and inerrant in the original manuscripts and is our only infallible rule in matters of faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21)
  3. In Jesus Christ, co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father, the only Savior of mankind, virgin-born, truly God and truly man, without sin, his vicarious or substitutionary death on the cross, historical and bodily resurrection from the grave, his bodily ascension to Heaven and his personal, visible and future return to this earth. (John 1:1; Acts 1:11; 1 Cor. 15:1-4; Titus 2:13)
  4. In the Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father and with God the Son, who regenerates, indwells, empowers and transforms every believer. (Mat 28:19; John 16:13-14; John 14-16)
  5. In the total depravity of all men and their need to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to be saved. (Rom. 3:10-13; Eph. 2:8-9)
  6. In the bodily resurrection of the dead, the believer to eternal existence with God and the unbeliever to eternal damnation in hell. (Dan. 12:2; John 5:24-29)
  7. In the universality and unity of the Church, which is, the body of Christ, comprised of all who have been born again by the Holy Spirit having faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (John 3:35; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 4:4)

Church Covenant

...

Being led by the Spirit of God to band together as a local expression of the Church, which is the body of those called from among mankind to spiritual union with Christ, we sincerely and joyfully enter into this COVENANT:

1. Because we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and have been led by the Spirit of God to depend upon Him alone for our salvation, we will seek to bring every phase of our lives under the Lordship of Christ and the authority of His Word.

2. We unreservedly and with abandon commit our lives and destiny to Christ, promising to give Him priority in all the affairs of life. We will seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

3. We commit ourselves, regardless of the expenditures of time, energy, and money, to become mature Christians in our faith, character, and knowledge of God and His purpose in our generation.

4. We will seek, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to be Christ-like in all relations with one another and with all men, including those of other nations, groups, classes, and races.

5. Because we believe that God is the owner of our total lives and resources, we give God the throne in relation to the material aspects of our lives. Because God is a generous Giver, we too shall be generous, cheerful, and regular in our material giving for His purpose through the Church.

6. We commit ourselves to watch over one another in brotherly love, to pray for each other, to aid one another in sickness and distress, and to not be easily offended but always be ready for reconciliation.

7. We will also maintain family and private devotions; diligently educate our children and bring them up to follow the Lord and His Word; seek the salvation of our relatives and acquaintances; and conduct ourselves carefully in the world.

8. We recognize that the function of the local church is to glorify God in united spiritual worship and sacrificial service, and therefore commit ourselves to regularly assemble together for worship, prayer, instruction in the Scripture, and the observance of ordinances. We also commit to uphold the doctrines and willingly submit to the discipline of the church, and to participate in training that will help us serve Christ better and be God’s missionaries in the world wherever He will lead us.

9. We will endeavor to discern our own spiritual abilities and those of our fellow members and obediently serve and accept the services of one another to Christ and His church as He enables us.
